    Tolkien, J. R. R.:  The Lord of the Rings [Three Volume Boxed Set] .  Boston: Houghton Mifflin Company, c1965. Second American Revised Edition, Fourth and Fifth Printings. All three volumes in this three volume set are in near fine conditions in black cloth covered boards with bold gilt text on the spines and copper colored metallic emblems on the front boards. The top edges of the text blocks for each are stained various shades of orange and red. Each volume is a small octavo measuring 8 3/4 by 5 1/2 inches. Only one of the volumes have its original dust jacket. The set is contained within a near fine, paper covered slip case with a paper label on one panel. Volume I is a fifth printing of The Fellowship of the Ring and contains 423 pages followed by a fold-out map Eriador, Gondor, Rhovanion and Mordor. Volume II is a fourth printing of The Two Towers and contains 352 pages followed by a fold-out map. Volume III is also a fourth printing of The Return of the King containing 440 pages including an index followed by a fold-out map.

Fine in light green cloth covered boards with silver colored text stamping on the spine and metallic green decorations with the same decorations on the front board. An octavo measuring 9 by 6 inches. In a very near fine, unclipped dust jacket with with very light rubbing at the upper and lower edges of the spine area and with a small, tape repaired closed tear to the front panel at its lower edge and a 1/4 inch chip from the upper edge of the rear panel. Printed in the same year as the the first British printing by George Allen & Unwin in 1980. 472 pages including an index and text followed by a fine, two-color, fold-out map of "The West of Middle-Earth at the end of The Third Age".
