Very good in blue-gray cloth covered boards with dark blue text on the spine and front board. There is a small hole of approximately 1/4" by 1/8" (perhaps a burn) through the cloth within the gutter between the front board and the spine and with light rubbing to the head and heel of the spine. Missing its issued dust jacket. This book was released at the same time as the movie by the same name. 189 pages of text and with photographs from the movie.

Reprint of 1957. Very good+ in green cloth covered boards with gilt text stamping on the spine. An octavo measuring 8" by 5 1/4" with a dampness stain at the lower and upper corners of the front board. The dampness extended only onto the front paste down and the first fee end page at the margin areas. The fly title page and the rest of the pages in the text block are not impacted in any way. In a very good+, unclipped dust jacket with rubbing and wear to the ends of the spine area and with several very tiny chips at the corners. The verso side of the jacket shows the impact of the dampness directly over the area of the book which suffered from that accident. The color bleed on the verso of the jacket has not impacted on the recto side of the jacket. Gilpatric's treatment of the sport of skin diving. This was the first book on the art and science of skin diving. It originally appeared in a number of magazine articles appearing between 1934 and 1938. The full title reads: "The Compleat Goggler Being the First and Only Exhausitve Treatise On the Art of Goggle Fishing, That most Noble and Excellent Sport Prefected and Popularized by Guy Gilpatric in the Mediterranean Sea Through Long Practiced Elsewhere by Other Benighted Savages: Setting Forth the Proper Manner of Maintaining the Goggles, Spears and Other Needful Gadgets Together with Descriptions of Many Marvels Witnessed Upon the Bottom of The Sea and Fully Exposing the Author's Cunning Methods of Swimming, Diving & Spearing Fish & Octopi". First edition 1938. Dodd, Mead and Company. 182 pages of text illustrated with 32 black and white photographs and a forward by James Dugan. An extremely scarce title in very collectable condition with no prior ownership markings of any kind.
